At Vetri Dental Care Centre, our dentist recently completed a dental implant placement procedure for a patient who required replacement of a missing tooth.
The procedure involved preparing the mouth, creating the required space for the implant, positioning the implant and closing the gums with sutures. This project blog shows the work completed during the surgical appointment.

The appointment began with access to the area being treated and continued through preparation and implant placement. Once the implant was positioned, the gums were closed with sutures to complete the procedure.

Preparing the Area for Treatment
Our dentist began by accessing the part of the mouth where the implant was to be placed. This provided the working space required for the next stage of the procedure.
The area was prepared as the procedure progressed, allowing our dentist to work directly where the implant was needed.
Preparing for Implant Placement
Once access was established, our dentist prepared the position for the dental implant.
Dental instruments were used progressively during this stage to create the space required for placement. Once the preparation was complete, the procedure moved on to inserting the implant.
Placing the Implant
Once the preparation was complete, our dentist positioned the dental implant in the prepared opening.
The implant was carefully inserted using dental instruments and guided into its intended position. Our dentist worked through this stage with controlled movements to ensure the implant was placed correctly within the prepared area.
Once the implant was in position, the placement stage of the procedure was complete.
Closing the Surgical Area
Once the implant placement was complete, our dentist turned attention to the soft tissue around the treated area.
Sutures were used to bring the tissue together and close the surgical area. This completed the surgical stage of the implant procedure shown in this case.
The area then enters the healing stage and is monitored according to the patient’s individual treatment plan.
What Happens After Implant Placement?
Placing the implant is an important stage, but it is not necessarily the final appointment in dental implant treatment.
The dentist needs to assess healing before deciding when the case is ready to move forward. What happens next depends on the patient’s individual clinical situation and the treatment plan established for them.
This means implant treatment is carried out in stages, with the final tooth restoration taking place separately from the surgical placement shown in this procedure.
